Breaking News: Illinois Licensure Renewal Deadline EXTENDED to August 31
July 28, 2023
Yesterday the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) announced that the deadline for Illinois physicians to renew their medical and controlled substance licenses has been extended by one month to Thursday, Aug. 31, 2023.
While this extra “breathing room” is sure to be appreciated by some Illinois physicians, it is still very important to renew as soon as possible!
Renewals can only be conducted through IDFPR’s website.
Licensure fees have been waived for 2023 AND any CME that you need for re-licensure – including those that fulfill Illinois’ CME mandates – is available at no cost for ISMS members!
To be clear, the new deadline means that renewals will be considered late after August 31. As a reminder, late renewals will require a fee of $543, plus additional penalties.
If you attempted to renew online and you were unable to do so, follow these steps to obtain assistance from IDFPR:
- Send an email to this address: fpr.lmu@illinois.gov
- Type “NEED ASSISTANCE RENEWING” in the subject line of your email
- Include the following information in your communication:
- Your name
- The best phone number to reach you
- Your 036 (medical) license number
You can also access IDFPR’s resource that offers tips for renewing.
