About CME Accreditation
The Illinois State Medical Society (ISMS) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education (CME) for physicians.
CME Activities
ISMS produces accredited CME webinars and on-demand courses to meet the educational needs of physicians. ISMS’s educational offerings include the following topics:
- Medicare and Medicaid Changes
- Physician Health and Wellness
- Documentation/Billing/Coding
- Public Health Issues and Regulatory Guidance
- Practice Management
- Leadership Development
ISMS also provides educational offerings that meet Illinois’ state-mandated requirements for licensure, such as:
- Medicare and Medicaid Changes
- Physician Health and Wellness
- Documentation/Billing/Coding
Type of credit offered through ISMS Accreditation: AMA PRA Category 1 CME CreditTM
Physician participants in most ISMS-provided and jointly provided CME activities may earn AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM in the American Medical Association's Physician's Recognition Award.
Live webinars are hosted on an ongoing basis and on-demand CME courses can be accessed 24/7.
Joint Providership
The Illinois State Medical Society is an accredited provider of CME activities. In this role, ISMS may enter into joint providership agreements with non-accredited providers to offer continuing medical education.
The ISMS will only consider entering into a joint providership agreement for programs that are in alignment with the ISMS CME Mission Statement and that meet the accreditation requirements and standards of ISMS and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).
