Here’s How to File a Complaint with the DOI for Insurance Violations
April 22, 2022
The Illinois Department of Insurance (DOI) recently released rules to further strengthen the protections provided under the Network Adequacy and Transparency Act (NAT Act), which ISMS has long requested. The rules are not final at this stage and ISMS will advocate for physicians during the rules process.
Are you having trouble when referring your patients for specialty care because of the reduced availability of healthcare professionals in a given network? How about bureaucratic delays related to prior authorization?
If you think an insurance company is in violation of the NAT Act or the Prior Authorization Reform Act (which was enacted to significantly reduce delays for patient care), please file a complaint with the DOI.
If you have any questions, please contact ISMS Senior Vice President of State Legislative Affairs Erin O'Brien by email.
