Do You Hold an Illinois Controlled Substance License? Make Sure You Are in Compliance!
June 23, 2023
Under state law, all prescribers with an Illinois controlled substance license must register with the Illinois Prescription Monitoring Program (ILPMP).
You may be wondering if this law applies specifically to you due to your circumstances. But if you hold a license, you must register with the ILPMP even if you:
- Do not actively prescribe controlled substances at this time.
- Do not currently practice in Illinois but hold an active Illinois controlled substance license.
- Are working in a hospital environment, group practice setting or academic setting.
- Are a non-physician practicing under a collaborative or supervisory agreement with a licensed physician.
The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) recently sent out an email to all Illinois controlled substance license holders about registering an account with the ILPMP. Within 45 days of this notice, license holders must comply if they have not already done so. The Department may take disciplinary action against any prescriber for failure to comply.
Register with the ILPMP today!
If you have any questions or need any assistance with registering, please send an email to ILPMP. You can also access a comprehensive Q&A about the program.
