New EO Provides End Date for Suspended Reinstatement Requirements for Lapsed, Inactive Medical Licenses

July 29, 2022

Last week Governor Pritzker issued a new Executive Order (EO 2022-17) that directs that certain exceptions that have been allowed during the pandemic for lapsed and inactive medical licenses will end on Sept. 17, 2022.

Since March of 2020, physicians whose licenses have been lapsed or inactive for less than three years have not had to provide proof of meeting continuing education requirements for one renewal period or pay a reinstatement fee in order to reinstate their license (EO 2020-09). After Sept. 17, 2022, these requirements will be reinstated.
