ISMS Member Wins Primary Election for State Representative!

July 8, 2022

Candidates for the Illinois Supreme Court, constitutional offices and the General Assembly are set for the general election, taking place on November 8. The Illinois State Medical Society PAC (IMPAC) supported several successful physician-friendly candidates who were in contentious primary elections, including an ISMS member physician.

ISMS member William Hauter, MD, was victorious in securing the Republican nomination for state representative in the 87th House District. Dr. Hauter is an anesthesiologist and emergency medicine physician from Morton and this victory puts a physician one step closer to serving in the Illinois General Assembly. Congratulations to Dr. Hauter!

If elected in November, Dr. Hauter would be the first physician state legislator since the 1990s. As of now, Dr. Hauter is running unopposed in November’s general election.

More Election News: State Senator Darren Bailey (R) will take on incumbent Governor JB Pritzker (D) in the gubernatorial election. Circuit Court Judge Elizabeth Rochford (D) will take on attorney Mark Curran (R) in the Illinois Supreme Court race to serve the northwest collar counties. A number of incumbent Illinois General Assembly members were defeated in their party’s primaries, marking a “changing of the guard” in several districts.
