May 7, 2021

ISMS Trustees join Governor Pritzker for the announcement.

At a press conference yesterday, Governor Pritzker announced a plan to make the COVID-19 vaccines more available to Illinois patients through physician offices. The Governor’s action is the centerpiece of an effort to make getting the COVID shots more convenient for Illinois residents.

ISMS Trustees Dr. Rodney Alford and Dr. Paul Pedersen participated in the press conference with the Governor and Illinois Department of Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike.

Primary care physicians are encouraged to sign up to administer the COVID-19 vaccines through the Illinois Comprehensive Automated Immunization Registry Exchange (I-CARE). Pediatricians are also encouraged to participate, as the Food and Drug Administration is expected to grant Emergency Use Authorization for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to be made available to 12-to-15-year-old children.
