Efforts Are Underway to Expand COVID-19 Vaccinations into Routine Patient Care
January 28, 2022
The Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (ICAAP) has been awarded a contract from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) to support the expansion of COVID-19 vaccine administration into routine patient care workflows in primary care settings, hospital urgent care centers and upon hospital discharge.
This project, called Illinois Vaccinates Against COVID-19 (I-VAC), aims to ensure Illinoisans are being immunized at every opportunity and that healthcare professionals are prepared to immunize all eligible age groups.
Join a cohort of Illinois health professionals and organizations in a series of four sessions that repeat weekly through May 2022. The live web-based sessions – called COVID-19 Vaccine Bootcamps include topics such as:
- Operational issues (Illinois Comprehensive Automated Immunization Registry Exchange [I-CARE]; Vaccines For Children [VFC] program; etc.)
- Handling, storage and preparation best practices of vaccines
- Strategies for overcoming vaccine hesitancy through culturally and linguistically appropriate methods
- Clinical resources for adult and pediatric populations
