MSS Council Representatives
Student members of the ISMS have a unique opportunity to actively participate in the deliberations and activities that influence policy impacting the medical profession.

The Illinois State Medical Society encourages student members to serve on each of its key councils. Members of ISMS councils are appointed and are comprised of such members as necessary to accomplish the purposes of the council. Students serving on these councils are considered regular members, with considerable input into policy and program deliberations and full voting rights.

Student members of ISMS councils are also participants in the ISMS Medical Student Section Governing Council, attending meetings of that governing council and providing updates and contributing to the governing council's discussions.

These appointments then take effect for a one-year term beginning in June of each year. Applications received now are being considered for appointment beginning June 2017. The deadline for receipt of applications is Monday, May 1, 2017.

A brief description of each council is provided here. If you are interested in being considered for appointment to an ISMS council, please return the completed application along with a statement of interest and a current CV (as defined in the application) either by mail, email or fax. All applicants will be notified of appointment once they are finalized.
