IDPH Issues Guidance for Elective Surgeries, Procedures and Testing

elective surgeries

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has released initial guidance for resuming elective surgeries and procedures during the COVID-19 pandemic, which takes effect May 11, 2020

By first meeting specific criteria, hospitals and ambulatory surgical treatment centers (ASTCs) may begin to perform elective outpatient procedures that had previously been postponed to conserve resources for the care of COVID-19 patients. Additional conditions related to regional health system capacity must also be met before elective inpatient procedures may resume.

Please note: IDPH is expected to release further guidance soon.
