New ICD-10 Resource Available, for Members Only
Posted on: 11/15/2013
In less than a year, the number of ICD codes will increase by more than five times under the new code set, ICD-10-CM.

To gain a better understanding about the key differences between ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM and what to expect in the first stages of adoption and implementation, check out ISMS' new Issue Brief: A Look Ahead: Considerations for Adopting, Implementing and Using ICD-10-CM.

Meeting the compliance deadline of Oct. 1, 2014, will require much preparation, and physicians and staff will need significant training when the code set skyrockets from 13,000 codes to 68,000 codes under ICD-10-CM.

The new code set will change the way health care outcomes are reported, quality and efficiency are measured, and reimbursement models are restructured for both physicians and facilities.

ISMS also offers a webpage dedicated to ICD-10.
