While October officially marks the start of the flu season, physicians know that now is not too early for patients to receive the influenza vaccine.

Plan to join the webinar Influenza: What's New for the 2013-2014 Season? on October 8 from noon to 1 p.m. You'll hear about the latest recommendations from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), the new vaccines on the market, and what you need to know about emerging novel influenza viruses.

ISMS also offers flu-related online resources, including the Seasonal Influenza Preparedness webpage and the Tool Kit for Influenza Vaccination of Health Care Professionals.

As a reminder, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone six months of age and older get a seasonal flu vaccine, especially people who are high risk or in close contact with those considered high risk.
