Trial Lawyers Offer Revised Prejudgment Interest Legislation; Yet, Proposal Remains Seriously Flawed
Posted on: 3/19/2021

Our members have been urging Governor Pritzker to VETO the outrageous prejudgment interest bill (House Bill 3360). Now, with less than three weeks before the bill signature deadline, Illinois trial lawyers have doubled down with another modified version of a proposed prejudgment interest. The new proposal (Senate Bill 72) was likely introduced due to an anticipated veto of H.B. 3360.

S.B. 72 has several differences from H.B, 3360, but it remains a severely flawed legislative package. Last night, S.B. 72 passed out of the Illinois House and now heads to the Senate. ISMS will continue to oppose this legislation and will keep our members updated.

Send a message urging your Illinois State Senator to vote “no” on S.B. 72.
