  • Governor Pritzker Again Extends EO for Telehealth Services
    telehealth services

Last week, Governor Pritzker issued a new executive order (EO) related to telemedicine reimbursements. This EO extends the March 19, 2020, EO, which was initially signed due to the COVID-19 public health emergency, through Oct. 17, 2020

This new EO instructs all commercial health insurers regulated by Illinois’ Division of Insurance to:

    • Cover telehealth services.
    • Reimburse health professionals for telehealth services at the same rate as in-person visits
    • Refrain from imposing any cost-sharing for in-network telehealth services (the exception being when a deductible has not been met for a high-deductible health plan.)

If you have questions, please contact the ISMS Health Policy Research and Advocacy team by email

  • Remember, Reimbursements Are Available for Testing, Treating Uninsured COVID-19 Patients

Healthcare professionals can be reimbursed with federal funds for testing uninsured patients for COVID-19 and treating uninsured patients with a COVID-19 diagnosis. Health professionals who have provided these services on or after Feb. 4, 2020, can request claims reimbursement electronically.

The reimbursement for uninsured patients is based on Medicare payment rates.

  • Are Your Patients Struggling with Paying for Prescriptions? Here’s Relief
    ilrxcard pharmacy coupon

Approximately 25% of Americans find it difficult to afford prescription drugs due to high out-of-pocket costs. Now factor in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which caused many to lose their jobs and health insurance.

To help ease the burden of costly prescription medications for your patients, ISMS offers the Illinois Rx Card. This savings program is designed to help those who may be uninsured, underinsured or who have health insurance coverage with no prescription benefits – but anyone can use it.

Patients (and physicians, too) can save up to 80% on many prescription drugs by using this free card.

Simply present the card at a pharmacy when paying for a prescription. In instances in which patients are unable to go to the pharmacy in person, especially during this COVID-19 era, they should call the pharmacy to provide the discount card information.

If you are interested in ordering cards for your practice, clinic, hospital or for yourself, please contact Program Director Charlie Hartung by email or call 888-615-1988. The card can be shared online or via email, but can also be printed at home or in your office
