  • Happy 2019! Highlights of New Laws Related to Medicine – Now in Effect

    Illinois lawmakers passed more than 250 new laws that took effect on January 1.

    Among them, carnivals must conduct criminal background checks of all employees, law enforcement can take temporary custody of dogs and cats exposed to adverse weather conditions, and hunters can now wear solid blaze pink colored clothing!

  • Don’t Call it the 'Annual Physical' When it Comes to Medicare Patients

    Many Medicare patients will call their doctor’s office to schedule their "annual physical." 

    But does Medicare pay for an annual physical? The answer is no. 

    In 2011, Medicare rolled out a preventive service called the Annual Wellness Visit (AWV) to help seniors stay healthy. While the terms "annual physical" and "Annual Wellness Visit" may be used interchangeably by beneficiaries and medical professionals, they have different meanings from Medicare’s perspective.

  • Medical Corporation License Deadline Approaches; New Law Will Impact Licensure Cycle

    Medical corporations, limited liability companies, and professional service corporations in Illinois are required by law to be licensed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). 

    Regardless of the date on which the license was issued, corporate licenses must adhere to IDFPR's license renewal schedule – which recently changed.
