Get the word out to your patients about the next National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on October 27, sponsored by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Locate a convenient collection site.

The nation’s ongoing opioid epidemic proves that addiction, overdose or both can be as close as the medicine cabinet of a family member or friend.  After all, one third of all U.S. prescriptions go unused each year.

Illinois State Police headquarters in Des Plaines, Elgin, Joliet, Collinsville and LaSalle also provide drug collection receptacles.

Important: It is unlawful for physicians to take custody of a patient's prescription medication for the purpose of disposal – unless they are a licensed collector.
