It's a given that Illinois physicians provide an invaluable service, delivering care to the citizens in our state.

Doctors also boost the state's economy and create jobs in all industry sectors!

Physicians:

  • Generate $3 billion in state and local tax revenues – almost $100,000 per physician.
  • Create 396,856 jobs – that's 13 additional jobs per physician.
  • Bring in $73.2 billion of economic activity, averaging $2.4 million per doctor.

In total, Illinois physicians create $34.8 billion in annual statewide wages and benefits!

Policymakers need to consider the vital economic contributions physicians make to their communities and bear in mind the importance of fostering a positive practice environment for the physician workforce.
