Still Haven’t Renewed Your Illinois Medical License? Take Action by Oct. 29!
Posted on: 10/23/2017

Physicians cannot practice medicine in Illinois without a valid three-year Illinois medical license

If you did not renew your medical license by the July 31 deadline, you are currently within the 90-day timeline that will allow you to retroactively renew to August 1.

However, you must take the following action by October 29:

  1. Initiate the license renewal at www.IDFPR.com; you will need your medical license number, Social Security number, and date of birth to complete your renewal.

  2. Illinois-based physicians will now pay $920 to renew a medical license (the on-time fee was $690).

  3. Physicians renewing within this timeline are asked to provide documentation that their mandatory 150 hours of CME required for renewal have been completed. (Physicians who renewed before July 31 were simply required to attest completion of those hours.)

Also, don't forget to renew your controlled substance license(s), if applicable.

ISMS cannot process late renewals, but our expert staff can help guide you through the process. Contact David Porter at 312-580-2468 or by email.
