Podcasts Feature Opioid Use Disorder, Most Frequently Used Treatment
Posted on: 6/22/2017

The opioid epidemic has been called the worst drug crisis in American history.

The Providers' Clinical Support System (PCSS)* was developed in response to this crisis and offers CME programs, resources and expertise on opioid use disorder – at no cost.

PCSS also offers podcasts covering up-to-date education on pain medicine and substance use disorder. Check out these two below:

Opioid use disorder is the psychiatric condition with the highest mortality. Each year about 1 percent of Americans with this condition die. This number is expected to spike to 10 percent in the next decade.

In this podcast Adam Bisaga, MD, discusses opioid use disorder, the clinical criteria for determining opioid use and how it is treated. Listen now.

Buprenorphine is the most frequently used medication for the treatment of opioid use disorder in America – but underutilized.

In this podcast Edwin Salsitz, MD, discusses how to initiate buprenorphine in the office setting, which is called "induction." Listen now.

These podcasts are not designated for CME credit.
