Lawmakers race against the calendar – will overtime session produce a budget before the clock strikes “July 1”?

Illinois lawmakers returned to Springfield to begin a 10-day special overtime session. Today marks Day 724 of the budget impasse. This June session offers a chance to enact a budget before the new fiscal year begins on July 1.

The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote soon on the Protecting Access to Care Act (H.R. 1215).

This medical liability reform bill includes proven, effective reforms that Illinois doctors and patients have sought for many years.

Federal legislation is the best chance for medical liability reform here in the Prairie State.
