Do you collaborate with advanced practice nurses (APNs) or supervise physician assistants (PAs)?
Good news! APNs and PAs may access the
Illinois Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP). However, state rules require a collaborating/supervising physician to enter this delegation authority into the PMP.
So for starters, you must be registered in the PMP in order to delegate this authority. If you haven’t yet,
register for the PMP today! There is no cost for registration or to use this helpful tool.
Once you are registered,
sign into the PMP and choose "PMP Collaborative Practice Agreement Registration."
ISMS has learned that a low number of collaborating/supervising physicians have entered the delegation of
prescriptive authority in the PMP, so your effort here is critical.
