'Judicial Hellhole' Status Granted to Three Illinois Counties … Again

Here it comes – the American Tort Reform Foundation (ATRF) released its Judicial Hellholes list, which documents plaintiff-friendly jurisdictions across the country where civil courts apply laws and court procedures in an unfair and unbalanced manner.

Once again, the report names some Illinois jurisdictions among the nation's "most unfair" in handling of civil litigation, with the three most historically litigious counties in Illinois – CookMadison and St. Clair – collectively occupying the number six spot on the Hellholes list.

No surprises here, but the fact that several Illinois jurisdictions are still consistently mentioned in this report does not speak well for the liability climate in our state.
