and the Illinois Psychiatric Society (IPS) have sent a communiqué to the Illinois Department of
Financial and Professional Regulation commenting on proposed rules pertaining
to prescribing by clinical psychologists.
The proposed rules
establish regulatory requirements for clinical psychologists to be licensed to
prescribe limited types of drugs under a collaborative agreement with a
physician. ISMS and IPS have advocated that the proposed rules be changed to
more closely comply with the precise requirements and educational standards
mandated by the 2014 law.
