ISMS Guidance: Five actions practices can take now to prepare

Just last week, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced that it will allow some flexibility for eligible physicians to comply with the new payment program being implemented under the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA).

Five actions practices can take now to start preparing for MACRA implementation.

MACRA webinar available at your convenience at no cost.

What that means is that doctors would be able to “pick their pace of participation” for the first performance period (which starts Jan. 1, 2017) by choosing among several options:

  1. The test option -- submit some data and avoid a negative payment adjustment.
  2. Submit data for a reduced number of days and become eligible for some positive payment adjustment.
  3. Submit data for a full calendar year and become eligible for some positive payment adjustment.
  4. Join an advanced alternative payment model and earn a 5 percent incentive (if certain quotas are met).

Learn more about the four options.

Stay tuned: The particulars won’t be available until the final rule is released, which is expected by November 1.
