    flu 2It's National Immunization Awareness Month, so here's a shot in the arm of related news you and your practice need to know.

    Check out ISMS' 2014-2015 Influenza Formulation and Coding Guide, a single page, easy-to-read chart that organizes important vaccine information based on manufacturer, dosage, age range, billing codes, diagnosis and more. Print and post this handy resource in your office today.

    Influenza vaccines are starting to ship this month. Physicians are encouraged to order flu vaccines now and have an action plan for vaccinating high risk patients.

    New immunization requirements announced

    The busy season for school physicals is in full swing, bringing your practice the usual influx of families requesting school physical forms.

    Here's what's new for school year 2014-2015.

    • The hepatitis B vaccination requirement for students entering the fifth grade has been changed to students entering the sixth grade.
    • Students entering school at any grade level (kindergarten through 12th grade) must show proof of having received two doses of the live rubella virus vaccine and two doses of the live mumps virus vaccine.
    • Students entering kindergarten, sixth grade or ninth grade must show proof of having received two doses of the varicella vaccine.
