Boost Patient Protection with ISMS Flu Resources
Posted on: 12/6/2013

The flu is more than just a pesky seasonal bug. In 2012 alone, Illinois saw more than 500 intensive care cases and 87 deaths ... all flu related.

To make sure your patients are well prepared for the 2013-2014 flu season and in recognition of Vaccinate Illinois Week, December 8-14, here's a refresher on ISMS' flu resources.

  • Consult ISMS's Seasonal Influenza Preparedness webpage for information on ordering, tracking, billing and administering the flu vaccine. For instance, the vaccine for commercially insured patients is coded and billed differently than the one for Medicare patients.
  • Physicians can also sign up for Influenza: What's New for the 2013-2014 Season? , an archived webinar covering the latest recommendations from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), new vaccines on the market, and what you need to know about emerging novel influenza viruses.
  • Finally, check out this handy flu checklist, courtesy of the co-sponsors of Vaccinate Illinois Week.
