Brace for Flu Season with ISMS Resources
Posted on: 1/1/2013

Signs of a nasty flu season are upon us, so make sure both you and your patients are well prepared to combat this pesky seasonal bug. In addition to offering influenza vaccinations to patients throughout the flu season, we recommend:

For doctors: Consult the ISMS Seasonal Preparedness Guide for information on ordering, tracking, billing and administering the flu vaccine. For instance, the vaccine for commercially insured patients is coded and billed differently than the one for Medicare patients. Review such details in our guide before treating your next flu patient.

For patients: Advise them to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's three-step approach to flu prevention: getting vaccinated; preventive actions (washing hands, avoid face touching); and, of course, listening to your doc.

Before flu knocks you out, get your flu vaccination, tap these resources and coach your patients.
