Biographical Information:

A board-certified specialist in ophthalmology, Dr. Panton is in private practice in Elmwood Park. He is on active staff at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, Rush Oak Park Hospital, Westlake Hospital and West Suburban Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Panton is a fellow with both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Panton received his undergraduate, Master’s and medical degrees from Brown University, completing his internship in internal medicine at the University of Chicago. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago and his fellowship in cornea and cataract surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Professional Involvement:

Dr. Panton has been a member of ISMS since 1987, serving on numerous councils and committees. He currently serves on the Committee on Finance & Medical Benevolence, the Council on Economics and the CME Accreditation Appeals Panel. He has served as a delegate since 2002, and has chaired the Government Affairs Council.

Dr. Panton has been a member of the Chicago Medical Society since 1987. He has served CMS as president (2013-2014), vice-chair of the Council (2009-2012), secretary (2008-2009) and as president of the Aux Plaines Branch (1999-2001; 2002-2003). He has also chaired several committees, including those dealing with young physicians, membership and investments.
