Springfield, IL – Steven M. Malkin, M.D., Buffalo Grove, was elected President of the Illinois State Medical Society (ISMS) during its 2010 annual meeting here over the April 23-25 weekend.
A board-certified specialist in internal medicine, Dr. Malkin is a member of the Medical Care Group in Arlington Heights and serves on the medical staffs of Alexian Brothers Medical Center and Northwest Community Hospital.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
An ISMS member since launching his medical practice, Dr. Malkin has served on the ISMS Board of Trustees since 2004, most recently in the capacity of President-Elect. He has participated on numerous ISMS councils and committees, including the Council on Economics and the Committee on CME Activities.
Since 2005, he has held a position on the Illinois delegation to the American Medical Association.
As a member of the Chicago Medical Society (CMS), Dr. Malkin served on its Board of Trustees from 1999-2006, and as its president in 2005-2006.
Dr. Malkin received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana, and his medical degree from Rush Medical College. He completed his residency at Michael Reese Hospital.
Dr. Malkin is married to Pamela Weiner and has three children.
