Looking for Information on the Red Flags Rule?
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has determined that health care practices are “creditors” simply by billing patients after the time of service. This means that your practice may need to implement an identity theft prevention program by May 1, 2009, to comply with the “Red Flags Rule.” Not to worry, ISMS can help!
Visit the Red Flag Toolkit on the ISMS web site to determine whether the Red Flags Rule applies to your practice and to learn what’s required for compliance. These resources are a members-only benefit but member-managers, the practice managers of ISMS members, are eligible to receive their own login ID to access the password protected portions of ISMS online. Click here to request your username and password.
ISMS members and member-managers can also participate in a one-hour Red Flags compliance webinar sponsored by ISMS affinity partner Solveras Payment Solutions. This complimentary webinar is offered on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 from Noon-1:00 PM and Thursday, April 23, 2009 from 3:00-4:00 PM.
All participants will receive a sample written compliance policy that they can implement in their practices. Click here to register.
