Last month, the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) kicked off its online medical license renewal process by mailing yellow postcards with personal identification numbers (PINs) to physicians who have completed their IDFPR physician profile.
Physicians may use those PINs to log in to IDFPR’s license renewal web site, www.idfpr.com/dpr/RENEWAL/phys.asp.
Physicians who have not completed their profiles will receive letters indicating they must complete the profile prior to being able to renew their licenses. The license renewal deadline is July 31, 2008.
How to renew your controlled substance license
The renewal postcards from IDFPR contain a PIN for medical license renewal only. Physicians need an additional separate PIN to renew their Illinois controlled substance license(s). This may be done online:
Log in to IDFPR’s medical license renewal site using the PIN on the IDFPR-supplied postcard: www.idfpr.com/dpr/RENEWAL/phys.asp.
Click on the “click here to view/print login information for your subordinate licenses” link.
- A page will open that shows your controlled substance license number(s) and PIN. Use this new PIN to renew your controlled substance license.
Physicians who self-renew their medical licenses must take this additional step to renew their controlled substance license.
