IDFPR Warns of Controlled Substance License Lapse
ISMS Members:Member physicians who renewed using ISMS’ license renewal hotline may disregard this notice – their controlled license(s) were renewed along with their medical licenses. (ISMS can no longer offer this member benefit as the official license renewal deadline has passed.) |
The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) reports that a large number of physicians who successfully renewed their medical licenses did not renew their controlled substance license(s).
IDFPR will mail controlled substance license renewal forms to all physicians who renewed their medical licenses but did not renew their controlled substance licenses.
Physicians who receive these letters should fill out the included renewal form and mail it, along with a check payable to the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, using the enclosed envelope.
Medical licenses can no longer be renewed online. Physicians may renew their medical license until November 1, but they must use a paper renewal form, pay a $100 late fee, and include proof of having completed the continuing medical education (CME) requirement for the 2005-2008 licensure cycle.
