Regarding US Senate Passage of HR 6331: Medicare legislation
“Illinois doctors congratulate the U.S. Senate for its passage today of HR 6331, crucial legislation to avert a 10.6 percent Medicare reimbursement cut and to assure continued access to medical care for Illinois seniors. We thank Illinois Senators Obama and Durbin for their strong support of this measure, and we urge President Bush to sign it into law. This victory demonstrates the resolve of organized medicine in Illinois and nationwide to fight for a strong, stable and fair Medicare program. Much work remains to achieve this goal, however, we want to thank our physician members for their unified voice and action to secure today’s critical vote.”
