ROCKFORD PHYSICIAN ELECTED
CHAIR OF STATE MEDICAL SOCIETY
Oak Brook -- William E. Kobler, M.D., Rockford, was elected chair of the ISMS Board of Trustees during the organization’s annual House of Delegates meeting in Oak Brook, IL.
A board-certified family physician and member of OSF Medical Group, Dr. Kobler is an attending physician on the medical staff of OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. He is a clinical assistant professor of family practice at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Rockford.
Dr. Kobler served as the Society’s president from 2003-2004, president-elect from 2002-2003 and first vice president from 2001-2002. Locally, Dr. Kobler is a member of the Winnebago County Medical Society where he served as its president in 1985. He also holds membership in the American Medical Association and
the Illinois Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Kobler received his undergraduate degree from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Illinois. He completed a three-year residency in family practice in Rockford, serving as chief resident during his final year.
ISMS is a professional membership association representing over 14,000 physicians in all specialties statewide.
