About IMPAC

IMPAC, the Illinois State Medical Society Political Action Committee, is a separate, voluntary, nonpartisan, not-for-profit committee that supports candidates who share the views of the medical profession. By helping these candidates we are ultimately helping shape legislation and regulations that affect physicians every day.

IMPAC is most visible at election time, combining the individual voices of IMPAC contributors to forge a strong, unified voice that lays the foundation for successful legislative advocacy.

IMPAC gives 100% of your contributions to worthy candidates who seek public office. Those candidates are chosen upon recommendation from IMPAC members in local districts. The IMPAC Council makes the final decision on contributions based on several factors, including the candidate's needs in a race. Candidates the IMPAC council chooses to support understand the challenges of providing quality health care in today's changing environment.

Why Should I Belong to IMPAC?

IMPAC is the physician's unified voice in the political process. Through IMPAC, physicians can have a much greater, and more visible impact upon the election process. By becoming an IMPAC member, you have the opportunity to shape the future of patients' rights legislation and insurance contract reform. A strong IMPAC helps counter the political influence of trial lawyers, insurers and others seeking to diminish the physician's primary role in the health care delivery system.

IMPAC $500 Club

This level of membership demonstrates superior leadership and commitment to having one unified voice trumpeted from the physicians of Illinois.  The dedication and support of the $500 Club for political activism plays a major role in improving relationships and understanding between lawmakers and physicians.  For a complete list of contributors, click here.
