Resident and Fellow Section
ISMS > Affiliates > Resident and Fellow Section

The Illinois State Medical Society (ISMS) knows residency is a very busy and stressful time. That’s why ISMS and its Resident & Fellow Section are here to help you be the best physician you can be.

Membership is an investment in your future.  Your annual ISMS membership dues are just $10. ISMS advocates on your behalf in the legislature, the business and law communities, and regulatory and licensing agencies, all of which have a direct impact on your residency and future practice of medicine.

Membership benefits for residents and fellows include:

  • Free $10,000 long-term disability insurance for the duration of your residency
  • 50 percent discount on Epocrates products
  • Student loan consolidation program
  • Publications on contracts, board certification, CV and job search tips
  • Educational seminars on stress management, contract negotiation and financial planning
  • Assistance with regulatory, legal and tax-related issues
  • Leadership opportunities with representation at national, state and local levels
  • Networking with colleagues and mentors
  • Access to confidential personal assistance related to alcohol, drug dependence, physical disabilities and mental or emotional disturbances

Questions? E-mail the chair of the Resident & Fellow Section, Christine Bishof, MD, at rfs@isms.org or call 312-782-1654 ext 2466.
