ISMS Alliance

The Illinois State Medical Society Alliance (ISMSA) is an organization of physicians' spouses whose purpose is to help the medical profession in its endeavors to improve the health care and quality of life for all the citizens of Illinois. The Alliance contributes to the ISMS Medical Student Loan Program, the Raymond E. Hoffmann Benevolence Fund, and to the American Medical Association (AMA) Education and Research Foundation.
The ISMSA also facilitates a continuing medical education program on protocol for treating domestic violence victims. In partnership with county medical societies, alliances across the state sponsor mini-internship programs. These programs provide legislators and community leaders the opportunity to experience the complexities of health care services delivery. In addition, the Alliance has instituted a large number of successful community health programs (e.g., vial of life, nutrition, physical fitness, stress management, child seat belt safety, immunization, substance abuse awareness, teen suicide prevention, AIDS education, and adolescent sexuality).
Being part of a federation allows ISMSA members to attend national meetings for leadership training and education. County presidents-elect are encouraged to attend the AMAA sponsored Conference. This three day in-depth training session is for future alliance leaders. All ISMSA members receive ALLIANCE TODAY six times a year. This AMAA publication keeps members informed of issues facing medical families throughout the United States. They also receive PULSE, the quarterly publication of the ISMSA.
ISMS Alliance Specialists are available to help alliance members answer any questions or concerns. Phone the ISMSA at 312-782-1654 or 800-782-ISMS for information or assistance or e-mail alliance@isms.org.
