CHAPTER II. DUES AND ASSESSMENTS
Section 1. Dues. Annual dues may be levied by the House of Delegates on each class of membership. The amount of dues shall be recommended by the Board of Trustees and shall be fixed by the House of Delegates at the annual meeting. These shall include the annual subscription to Illinois Medicine EXPRESS, which shall be at least fifty percent of the regular subscription price. Only Regular, In-training and Student members shall be assessed annual dues. Dues for its members shall be forwarded by the component society prior to February 1 of each year.
Section 2. Reduction and Remission of Dues. Regular members may be given a dues discount as determined by the Board of Trustees during the first years of practice. Groups of ten or more physicians may be given a fifteen percent reduction in dues, based upon eligibility of: 1) meeting the accepted definition of group; 2) 100% membership among physicians in the group; and 3) dues payment made by corporate check. Physicians approved for membership after June 30 shall pay one-half the annual dues for that year. Part-time practice member physicians who meet the eligibility requirements for part-time member status shall be eligible for a dues reduction as established by the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees may authorize remission of dues of any member based upon annual review and recommendation of the component society for good reason. In such cases the secretary shall recommend remission of dues by the American Medical Association. Emeritus members, Retired members, Service members, and Distinguished members are not required to pay dues.
Section 3. Assessments. In addition to dues, assessments may be made on dues-paying members as may be recommended by the Board of Trustees and approved by the House of Delegates. Unless specifically indicated as voluntary, any assessment passed by the ISMS House of Delegates shall be considered a part of a member’s dues for the purposes of membership in this organization.
