Brief Biographical Information:
Dr. Polek is a board-certified anesthesiologist affiliated with Kane Anesthesia Associates, S.C. in Geneva.
Dr. Polek received his undergraduate degree from Loyola University, Los Angeles. He received a Master of Science degree in microbiology from California State University, Long Beach, and his medical degree from the St. Louis University School of Medicine. Dr. Polek completed his residency at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago and Loyola University Medical Center, where he also completed fellowships in cardiovascular anesthesia and neuroanesthesia.
Professional Involvement:
Dr. Polek has been active in ISMS since 1989. For five years he represented Kane and McHenry counties on the ISMS Board as trustee of District 13. In addition to serving as president from 2011-2012, he has served as vice president and has held positions on numerous councils and committees, including the Council on Communications, the Council on Membership and Advocacy and the Committee on Finance & Medical Benevolence.
Dr. Polek is a member of the Kane County Medical Society, having served as president, vice president, secretary-treasurer, councilor and currently as historian. He has published several research papers in scientific and medical journals, including the Journal of Clinical Anesthesiology, Anesthesiology and Current Microbiology.
In addition to his state and county medical society affiliations, Dr. Polek is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Illinois Society of Anesthesiologists.
