Brief Biographical Information:

Board-certified in both allergy/immunology and internal medicine, Dr. Kanellakes practices at the Allergy and Asthma Clinic, S.C., Provena St. Joseph Medical Center, and Silver Cross Hospital, all in Joliet.

Dr. Kanellakes received his medical degree from the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago. He served his internal medicine residency at the St. Louis University Hospitals, where he was chief resident, and a fellowship in allergy/immunology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. Kanellakes served as a major in the Army Medical Corps from 1971-1973.

Professional Involvement

Dr. Kanellakes has been a member of ISMS since 1975, serving as vice-president from 2007-2008. He has chaired the Finance Committee and participated as a member of the ISMS Medical Legal Council and the Committee on Drugs and Therapeutics. He currently serves on the CME Accreditation Appeals Panel and as a Board consultant to the Council on Medical Service.

Dr. Kanellakes is a member of the Will-Grundy County Medical Society, where he has served as president. In 1985, Dr. Kanellakes conceived and spearheaded the formation of the Will-Grundy Medical Clinic. Through his leadership, the clinic opened in 1988, becoming the first free healthcare clinic in Illinois and only the third in the country.
