Bloodborne Pathogens

Bloodborne pathogens can cause disease when transmitted from one infected individual to another through blood and certain body fluids. Bloodborne pathogens are capable of causing serious illness and death. Physician practices are required to conduct annual bloodborne pathogen training. Access the bloodborne pathogen standard (29 CFR 1910.1030)

Information on Bloodborne Pathogens

OSHA requires that all health care workers that have occupational risk to bloodborne pathogens be offered the Hepatitis B vaccine. For answers to common questions about this vaccine, read the CDCs Hepatitis B and the healthcare worker material.
