Communications Resources: The ISMS Division of Communications coordinates all public relations activities. The Division seeks to provide information to physicians on a broad range of issues that affect physicians in their practices and provide information to the media and the public on health care issues.

Education and Licensure Resources: The ISMS Division of Education and Licensure coordinates education and licensure activities through administration of ISMS Intrastate Accreditation Program; development of AMA-PRA Category 1 and 2 CME programs; and liaison with Illinois Department of Professional Regulation on licensure and discipline.

Governmental Affairs Resources: The ISMS Division of Governmental Affairs is directed by the Governmental Affairs Council. All state and national health legislation is monitored; bills are forwarded to physician members with pertinent expertise for their review and comment. Legislative representatives then express the ISMS position to legislators, and continually monitor amendments to bills of interest to the medical profession. The division also coordinates physician testimony before legislative committees.

Health Policy Research Resources: The ISMS Division of Health Policy Research conducts analysis and research regarding legislative health and medicine initiatives, and monitors all public health issues and related specialized programs. Issues and activities include: Health care reform; health data systems; research development; rural health issues/access to care; worker's compensation; etc.

Medical Legal Resources: The ISMS Division of Medical Legal Services provides legal support for all divisions in ISMS.

Meeting Services: The ISMS Division of Meeting Services is responsible for support, monitoring and implementation of the travel and meeting needs of the Society and staff.  The Division of Meeting Services also provides ISMS members access to cost-effective overseas travel programs.

Member Advocacy Resources: The Division of Member Advocacy offers assistance to ISMS members who experience difficulties or hassles with the policies or procedures of various government agencies and third party payors including Medicaid, Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, HMOs, PPOs, IPAs, etc.  ISMS advocates for its members on the basis of third-party payor concerns received by ISMS. We encourage members to forward their concerns and comments about third-party payors to ISMS. Physician members seeking assistance are encouraged to complete the ISMS Hassle Factor Log and e-mail it to advocacy@isms.org or fax (312) 782-2023 for action by the ISMS Division on Member Advocacy.

Membership Resources: The ISMS Division of Planning and Marketing seeks to retain, recruit, promote and process membership in the Medical Society by supporting the Medical Society's membership and marketing activities. Membership provides consultation and coordination to other ISMS departments in the areas of membership mailings and distribution of information.
