President's Forum 
 

Oak Brook, IL – William N. Werner, M.D., M.P.H., Skokie, was inaugurated President of the Illinois State Medical Society (ISMS) during its recent annual meeting here. 

Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Werner is Vice President of Clinical Transformation at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago.  He is also Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Medicine.

Dr. Werner is active in organized medicine at all levels. He has served on numerous ISMS councils and committees, most recently as its President-Elect. Locally, he is a former President of the Chicago Medical Society. At the national level, Dr. Werner is an ISMS Alternate Delegate to the American Medical Association.

Dr. Werner received his undergraduate degree (cum laude) from North Park College in Chicago. He earned both his medical and master’s of public health degrees from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He interned at University of Illinois Hospital and Veterans Administration Hospital and completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Illinois Hospital.

He serves on the Board of Directors for the National Kidney Foundation in Illinois, chairing the Program Committee, and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Werner is a fellow of both the American College of Physicians and Institute of Medicine of Chicago.

Dr. Werner’s term as President runs through April 2013.
