Let's Tackle Physicians' Challenges - Together!
 |
ISMS President William N. Werner, MD |
I am truly grateful and humbled by the trust and confidence ISMS members have placed in me to lead and carry out the mission of the Illinois State Medical Society. I want you to know that I'm up for the challenge, but first I'd like to tell you a little about myself and what you can expect from me during my term in office.
I've been an ISMS member since 1976. Like many of our members, I had been a regular dues paying member for many years and was happy knowing that ISMS was working on my behalf. Professional Associations Team Up to Decode Regs, Publish Resource
Health care team collaboration is essential to achieve the best possible outcomes in patient care. At the same time, the complex rules prescribed by Illinois law regarding health team relationships can be difficult to understand.
To overcome this challenge, ISMS and a half dozen other professional associations authored Excellence Through Coordinated Patient Care: Advanced Practice Nurses' Authority to Diagnose and Prescribe.
This new online resource deciphers regulatory requirements for health care team relationships, most specifically to do with the roles of advanced practice nurses. Topics covered include collaborative agreements (sample included), scope of practice, prescriptive authority and more. The guide is available to the public in a printable format.
ISMS created the guide in partnership with the Illinois Society for Advanced Practice Nursing, the Illinois Nurses Association, the Illinois State Dental Society, the Illinois Podiatric Medical Association, the Illinois Pharmacist Association and the Illinois Society of Anesthesiologists.
