Statement by Steven M. Malkin, MD, FACP, ISMS President

“Any proposal for a thirty-percent payment reduction for injured workers’ medical care is unacceptable. Illinois physicians strongly oppose such arbitrary slashing of the workers’ compensation fee schedule under the guise of reform. The proposed cut is excessive and unwarranted.

 “Despite our deep concern over Governor Quinn’s plan, ISMS remains committed to working with him and members of the Illinois General Assembly to enact reasonable reforms that will protect injured workers while reducing overall costs.”
