Brief Biographical Information:

Board-certified in internal and pulmonary medicine, Dr. Zia is on the medical staff at Decatur Memorial Hospital where he serves as vice-president for medical affairs and quality systems. Since 1978, he has served as an assistant clinical professor at the SIU School of Medicine.

Dr. Zia received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago. He completed his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in pulmonary medicine and critical care at the University of Missouri, Columbia. Dr. Zia also received his Master of Administrative Medicine degree from the University of Wisconsin.

Professional Involvement:

Dr. Zia is past president of the Macon County Medical Society and is active in organized medicine. He has served on the ISMS Committee on Continuing Medical Education (CME) Activities and the CME Accreditation Appeals Panel. He has also been a member and past chair of the Iowa Foundation for Medical Care – Illinois, the federal quality improvement organization for Illinois.
